Ali bin Majid Al Maamari
Former Minister of Oman's Royal Office and External Intelligence Liaison
General Ali bin Majid Al Maamari is a former high-ranking military officer during the Sultanate of Qaboos bin Said Al Said who served as Minister of the Palace Office for just under three decades; the office was later renamed to Royal Office.
In this capacity, he was responsible not only for supervision of Armed Forces and national security matters but served as the focal person for all external intelligence coordination and cooperation with foreign agencies.
He was sacked from office in what is considered a symbolic purge in the wake of the 2011 protests in Oman inspired from the 'Arab Spring'.
