Alok Joshi is a former Indian Police Service officer who rose to become Secretary of India's external intelligence agency, the Research & Analysis Wing (R&AW) and also Chairman of the country's leading technical intelligence agency, National Technical Research Organisation (NTRO). He hails from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
He was commissioned as a Regular Recruit (RR) in the Haryana Cadre in 1976. During his career, he completed a Command Course by West Yorkshire Police Training and Development Centre, UK.
