Dorjpalam Gerel, popularly referred to as D. Gerel, is a Mongolian diplomat and former two-term chief of the country's General Intelligence Agency (GIA). He resigned voluntarily during his second tenure at the GIA.
Since 2004 with the establishment of National Counter-Terrorism Coordinative Council (NCCTC), the sitting GIA chief is a dual-hatted position since they serve concurrently as Director of NCCTC.

In 2008 as Ambassador to South Korea, Gerel signed an agreement with the management of Inha University Hospital (Incheon) whereby the hospital would provide convenient medical services, such as opening a dedicated window for Mongolians in Korea and operating a dedicated coordinator
In 2010 as Ambassador to South Korea, he signed an agreement with Konkuk University Medical Centre (Seoul) centered on mutual support and cooperation in medical treatment, medical education and medical research for the people of both countries
In 2019 as GIA/ NCTCC chief, he participated in a high-level regional conference titled "Whole of society approach to preventing and countering violent extremism and radicalisation that lead to terrorism" organised by the Government of Mongolia and Transnational Threats Department of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe
In 2019, as GIA chief, he met and cooperated with a delegation from the 141st Inter-Parliamentary Union's Committee on the Human Rights of Parliamentarians visited Mongolia to collect facts on the assassination of Zorig Sanjasuuren, a Mongolian parliamentarian and Acting Minister of Infrastructure
In 2019, as head of the Mongoliam SAMBO Federation, he was named the "Best President of the 2019 Sports Federation"
In 2019 as GIA/ NCTCC chief, he opened a Workshop on "Countering the Financing of Terrorism and the Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction (by non-State actors)" organised by United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and Government of Mongolia with the financial support of the Government of Japan
In 2023, he was nominated and approved as Interim Acting President of the Sambo Union of East Asia (SUEA) Emergency Congress
